The smooth flavor belies its formidable strength. It’s a lager, not an ale, so the emphasis is much more on the malty richness than outright roast, like a stout.

Flavor profile: Aroma of rich bread crust & caramelized sugar, soft fruit aromas including prune & port wine. Deep bready flavor, with burnt-raisin caramelized sugar, and a soft, lightly roasty finish. Smooth mouthfeel with warming alcohols when young (that lessen with age).
