Secondly, today is a bottle and can release!

We wrote extensively about Appalachian Spontaneous Ale yesterday. This beer means a lot to us, having been brewed with the methods of Belgian Lambic, but with ingredients and microflora from our region. Check it out on draft and in the bottle. Sour heads will not be disappointed. $18.99 per bottle with no limit. Will see limited distro in Ohio.

We’re also releasing cans of Sukha, our imperial oatmeal stout. Layers of roasty richness with a velvety oat mouthfeel. 10% abv and gluten-reduced, these 4 packs of pints will be $16.99 each.

Come and see us this weekend!

Releasing Friday, 2/6, in Athens and in Dayton: Ap Releasing Friday, 2/6, in Athens and in Dayton: Appalachian Spontaneous Ale, Batch 2.

Spontaneously fermented sour blonde ale.

In 2019, we started a lifelong project and aspiration to brew beer in the tradition of Belgian Lambic, using ingredients local to us, and spontaneously fermented with indigenous microflora. This beer is the second-ever release from that program. Turbid-mashed with Ohio-grown barley, and raw Ohio Red Fife wheat. Boiled for 3 hours with attic-aged, whole-cone hops. Cooled overnight in our coolship, and fermented in oak puncheons, with only the microflora that found its way in through the air and equipment.

Batch 2 is a blend of 2 batches of spontaneous ales, brewed in February of 2022 and December of 2022. It has been bottle & keg conditioning for months, and is now ready to share with you.

Flavor Profile: Complex aroma with wine and oak notes, slightly barnyardy aged hops, and a bright fruity note. Flavor is moderate acid, some aged hop bitterness, and wine and oak character. So much to find in this beer…it’s difficult to put into words. We’ll leave plenty of room for you to make your own associations.

7.3% abv. Available on draft and in 500 ml bottles for $18.99 each. No bottle limit. Will see distribution to select bottle shops in the Columbus, Dayton, and Cinci areas.

Today, we had the honor of brewing with the women Today, we had the honor of brewing with the women of Little Fish, in anticipation of #internationalwomensday on March 8th! These strong women came up with a really cool recipe that we’ll be unveiling on the 8th, as a benefit beer for @matriotsohio . This yet-to-be-named brown ale has sorghum added to the boil, as well as a gentle spice mix of spicebush, ginger, and pink peppercorn. More details to come soon! For now, mark your calendars for March 8th, when we will unveil this beer, and host the Matriots, who will share in the fun, and demonstrate their efforts to empower women to run for political offices in Ohio!
